Page checks

Only during a focus session: your goal, visible page title, URL, and up to 12,000 characters of text go to the provider you select in Settings over HTTPS: TypeSafe Jev or OpenAI Decisions (available from Onward 1.5).
Page text and goals may contain personal, health, financial, or message content from sites you visit.
Form fields and editable areas are excluded. Allowlisted sites are skipped.
Scans run about every 15 seconds. Unchanged pages reuse a result for five minutes.

OpenAI data controls: default abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days; eligible accounts can use different retention settings.

Chrome session memory holds your provider selection, separate API keys, goal, allowlist, focus state, and up to 40 decisions with titles, URLs, and response times.
That data clears when Chrome closes, the extension is disabled, or it is reloaded.
Duration, consent, total focus time, and completed-session count stay in local extension storage.
Only completed sessions add their full duration to focus totals. Ending early adds nothing. No goals or websites are stored with totals.
Each API key goes only to its own provider, never to Onward’s publisher or a web page. Switching providers ends the session and requires fresh page-check consent.

You review and agree before sending a website URL and goal to Onward’s report service.
URL query strings and fragments are removed. No page text or API key is included.
The publisher stores reports in private Vercel Blob storage, with a correction, receipt ID, and submission time.
With your consent, Onward’s publisher may read the reviewed website and goal to evaluate classification. Reports support model evaluation. They do not automatically retrain models or get sent to TypeSafe or OpenAI.
Reports stay until deleted. Use Delete report immediately, or keep the report ID to request deletion later.
The report service uses the request IP temporarily to limit abuse. Vercel may retain IPs and operational logs. Vercel privacy

Stop a session or revoke consent in Settings to stop page checks.
Add allowed sites or clear page checks at any time. Reset focus totals from Page activity.
Reporting is optional. Exporting a report downloads it locally.
Onward uses no advertising or analytics trackers.

Onward uses data only for goal checks, classification improvement, and related service operation.
We do not sell data or use it for advertising, credit decisions, or lending.
Our data use follows the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.
